Xentral – Scalable Headless Website Platform

higroup helped Xentral move from a hardcoded marketing website to a scalable, content-driven platform by creating a reusable design system, rebuilding the website around flexible components, integrating Hygraph, and supporting SEO and production infrastructure.

// the challenge

Turning a hardcoded website into a scalable marketing platform

Xentral’s website had grown to a point where a hardcoded setup made publishing and maintaining new pages increasingly inefficient.

The challenge was to create a system that gave the marketing team more flexibility without sacrificing consistency across a large and evolving website. At the same time, the new implementation needed to preserve SEO performance and provide a solid technical foundation for future growth.

// our approach

Build the system before building the pages

Rather than treating the project as a collection of individual page builds, we started by defining a reusable system.

We translated Xentral’s existing visual language into a structured design system in Figma, then mapped those patterns into reusable frontend and CMS components. This created a shared language between design, development, and content management, making it significantly easier to create and maintain new pages.

// the solution

A flexible website built for continuous growth

We rebuilt the website around a component-driven architecture and connected it to Hygraph, giving Xentral a more flexible way to manage and publish its marketing content.

  • /Design systemWe transformed the existing website design into a reusable Figma system with consistent components, layouts, and patterns that could support new pages without starting from scratch.
  • /Component-driven developmentThe design system was translated into reusable frontend components so pages could be assembled consistently while still allowing enough flexibility for different content needs.
  • /Hygraph CMS integrationWe connected the website to Hygraph and structured the content models around the component system, allowing the Xentral team to create and update pages without relying on developers for every change.
  • /SEO and production deliveryThe migration and launch were handled with SEO requirements in mind, ensuring the new setup supported Xentral’s expectations around discoverability while providing a reliable production environment.

The result was a website platform that could evolve alongside Xentral rather than becoming another hardcoded system that would eventually need to be replaced.

"The communication and the motivation for the project were really impressive. Timelines and budgets were as agreed."

// how the work ran
01AnalyseReviewed the existing website, page structures, design patterns, content requirements, and technical constraints.
02SystemiseTurned the existing visual language into a structured Figma design system and defined reusable page components.
03DevelopBuilt the frontend components, connected them to Hygraph, and migrated the website into the new content-driven architecture.
04LaunchPrepared the website for production, aligned the implementation with SEO requirements, and supported the platform as it evolved.

The hard parts

/Systemising an existing design
/Balancing flexibility and consistency
/Connecting design and CMS architecture
/Migrating without losing SEO value
/Building for a large content footprint
// technology stack

A flexible stack for a content-heavy website

Hygraph, Vue.js / Nuxt, Figma, and AWS, Hygraph provided the headless CMS foundation, Vue.js and Nuxt powered the component-driven frontend, Figma was used to create the scalable design system, and AWS supported the production infrastructure.

Common questions

What did higroup do for Xentral?+

higroup created the website design system, developed the reusable frontend components, connected the website to Hygraph, and supported the production setup and SEO requirements.

Why did Xentral move to a headless CMS?+

The previous hardcoded setup made creating and maintaining pages less efficient as the website grew. Moving to Hygraph gave the team a more flexible content model and reduced the need for development work for routine website changes.

Did higroup redesign the Xentral website?+

Not from scratch. We took the existing visual direction and turned it into a structured, reusable design system in Figma that could support the website at a much larger scale.

How did the design system connect to development?+

The components defined in Figma were mirrored in the frontend and Hygraph content architecture, creating a consistent system from design through implementation to content management.

How did higroup approach SEO during the migration?+

SEO requirements were considered throughout development and launch, including the technical structure and content setup needed to preserve discoverability during the move to the new platform.

What was the outcome of the project?+

The result was a scalable, component-driven marketing website that gave Xentral more control over content creation while making new pages faster and more consistent to build.
